How we plan and verify trips
Our team has logged more than 2,000 dives on liveaboards. This page explains how we choose what to recommend, where our information comes from, and how we're paid.
Who does the planning
Trip planning starts from our own time on liveaboards: which operators run a safe, well-organised boat, which routes deliver the encounters they promise, and which weeks bring the right conditions. Our dive-site guides and destination pages are written from that experience and checked against current operator information.
The rules we follow
- Every price and date is checked live. Prices, dates and free spaces come from the operators’ own booking systems, checked when we quote and again before we place a hold. Fares move week to week, so we re-check the departure calendar regularly and remove sailings that sell out.
- Unconfirmed sailings are labelled as unconfirmed. Some operators list departures before they’re guaranteed to run. When a sailing isn’t confirmed yet, we tell you before you commit.
- A discount is only a discount if the operator cut the price. We only show a struck-through price when the operator has genuinely reduced the fare. We never invent a “was” price.
- We check what the fare includes before quoting a total. Park fees, port fees, nitrox, fuel surcharges and transfers vary by boat. We confirm them before giving you a full price.
- We tell you when a trip isn’t right for you. Some routes need advanced certification, a minimum number of logged dives or comfort in strong current. If your experience doesn’t fit yet, we say so and suggest a route that does.
How a booking works
- You tell us your dates, experience and what you want to see.
- We suggest one best-fit sailing and an alternative, with the reasons.
- When you're ready, we hold your place free for 72 hours while you decide.
- The operator confirms, you pay the deposit through a secure payment link, and we send your invoice.
- We handle the paperwork, collect your certification and insurance details, and brief you before you travel.
Full terms are in our terms of service and booking and cancellation policy.
How we're paid
We're paid a commission by the operator, so you pay the same price as booking with the boat directly and there's no booking fee on top. That commission doesn't change what we recommend: a booking that's wrong for you costs us more in trust than it earns.
Reviews
The reviews on this site come from our clients and are collected directly from them after their trip. We publish them with first names only.
